THE STORY SHOP is a collective of established industry professionals James Nicholas, Karel Segers and Paul Sullivan, who combine more than 40 years of creative and business experience in Australian and Europe. Their credits including Superman Returns, Ghostrider, Clubland, Kokoda, Stealth, The Matrix trilogy, Moulin Rouge and Star Wars II and III.

JAMES NICHOLAS
Managing Director
James has been in the media industry for 14 years starting as Executive Assistant to the Director/Producer George Miller. It was here he honed his skills observing and involving himself in story and script development of Kennedy Miller Mitchell properties. He then moved onto Assistant Directing on various international and local films including STEALTH, SUPERMAN RETURNS, GHOSTRIDER, CLUBLAND, and KOKODA. Through the Story Shop James was a writer on the script for the feature film "Danger Close" currently in Development. James also has years of experience in the Software industry as an Exec Producer and GM in Mobile games on multiple top grossing titles.
KAREL SEGERS
Creative Director
Karel was the Head of Production, Programming and Acquisitions at the Digital Broadcasting Company in London (Sky, UK), a film buyer for Europe’s largest pay-tv group Canal Plus and a movie show host for MTV Europe before moving to Sydney in 2001 starting the story analysis business THE STORY DEPARTMENT. It has grown to now have a wide array of clients including award-winning writers, directors and producers. His work has resulted in a range of projects finding development money, production funds, post-production investment, international sales, and film festival acceptance.
PAUL SULLIVAN
Creative Director
Paul Sullivan has been in the film industry for 12 years. Paul's substantial list of credits as an Assistant Director includes THE MATRIX trilogy, as well as Baz Lurhmann's MOULIN ROUGE and George Lucas’ STAR WARS: EPISODE II AND III. He has also served as producer on numerous TV commercials. This grassroots experience culminated in Paul producing his first feature 'Cactus' which was released in 2008. In January 2009 he was selected as an Emerging Producer in Australia and took part in the Rotterdam Lab at Cinemart. He completed producing his first TV series 'My Family Feast' in 2009 that was screened by SBS in August ‘09.
